Skitanja - "I Like To Stay Home"

Bournemouth England's opera influenced Skitanja have done it again. This time with a cover of the legendary R. Stevie Moore's hermit anthem "I Like To Stay Home". Check it out! They also have a new album out now on Seed Records.

Porcelain Silhouette - NITETROTTER Session

Geneseo is a weird town in Henry County known for its high amounts of teenage suicide and drug use. It is a picture perfect small town, a great incubator for this sick teenage metal band. Porcelain Silhouette recently added 14 year old guitar virtuoso Kasey Harrison of East Moline on guitar.

Another session from a band playing NF2KDIME! Get ready to have your skull smashed from the inside out via the brutal hessian power metal of these kids! GOOD NITE

Caw! Caw! - NITETROTTER Session

Illustration Rose Noble / Sound Engineering Ian Harris / Text Mr. Nitetrotter - June 26, 2010

There has been mild confusion  in Chicago over this band and the other Chicago band named Cacaw. Sometimes with confused fans showing up to the other similar phonetically sounding band name's gig to occasionally argue about which is better. The other is a ex. coughs no wave post metal band who is great and noteworthy in their own right but its musically like apples and oranges. The contemporary pyschedelic pop song writing chops of Caw! Caw! are hard to match and tropically polished. They have great musicianship abilities that they seem to take full advantage of. The vocals are progressive and have a delicately tuned timbre. Their songs have interesting texture and clever rhythms. Keep an eye on these guys.

Well we hope you enjoy this track as much as we do. Catch Caw! Caw! at Nitetrotter Fest 2010! Thanks and GOOD NITE!

Nü Sensae - NITETROTTER Session

Illustration Jorge Tapia / Sound Engineering Nathan Gregory / Text Mr. Nitetrotter - June 25, 2010

Vancouver's Nü Sensae rolled through Schwag City while touring with Shearing Pinx.  We were taken by surprise to how utterly  fuck punk this power duo is. They have the sheer head intensity that seems to be limited to north of the border.  Dig?

We hope you enjoy this latest session from Nu Sensae. Thanks and GOOD NITE COMRADES!

MC/VL - NITETROTTER Session

Illustration Jorge Tapia / Sound Engineering Ian Harris / Text Mr. Nitetrotter - June 24, 2010

MC/VL is a Twin Cities hip hop duo known for their triumphs on the midwest diy house party circuit. They have toured with their friends Unicorn Basement and Kitten Forever to both coasts. They continue to steal the spot light from other white rappers they open for. Why? Because they know how to tear the fucking roof down.

They got the rhymes and the hot moves. They really step up to the plate live and we can't wait to record them again! It is true, they do electrify the room when they walk in! Cheers to MC/VL and GOOD NITE!

Kitten Forever - NITETROTTER Session

Illustration Jorge Tapia / Sound Engineering Ian Harris / Text Mr. Nitetrotter - June 12, 2010

Kitten Forever is our favorite occult powered all female band. These dedicated rockers originating from the great city of Minneapolis have been hard at work for a few years now. The elusive power trio is known for their raging live show and demented demeanor. I wouldn't want to cross these bad grrls in a dark alley! I prefer to stay safe behind my record player jamming their 7"!

Well for those who have been bugging us about this session here it is. The amazing KITTEN FOREVER! THANK YOU AND GOOD FUCKING NITE! KEEP ON TROTTING IN THE FREE WORLD!

Shearing Pinx - NITETROTTER Session

Illustration Jorge Tapia / Sound Engineering Nathan Gregory / Text Mr. Nitetrotter - June 10, 2010

We are so excited to present to you this latest session. Shearing Pinx is one of our favorite Canadian bands who happened to blow our roof off earlier this summer.

While raging through the midwest on a US tour they were kind enough to stop by Schwag City right before a show down the street at the Bakery. They lived up to the studio's name and made some friends right off the bat. They then proceeded to play some of the loudest music at Schwag City yet!

Enjoy these fresh tracks from the Canadian death squad none other than Shearing Pinx..... GOOD NITE!

Sinjo Thraw Mash - NITETROTTER Session

Illustration Jorge Tapia / Sound Engineering Nathan Gregory / Text Mr. Nitetrotter - June 8, 2010

This session was recorded a few days in to Sinjo Thraw Mash's first tour. Jason and Andy from Sinjo Thraw Mash have been two serious movers and shakers highly involved in the golden age of the "The East Moline Sound". Their swirling weird psychedelia are why they are one of our favorite local bands. Can you hear the smoke? We mic'ed the organic fog machine!

Well we hope you enjoy this session as much as we did recording it. GOOD NITE!

The Hypo Twins-NITETROTTER Session

Illustration Jorge Tapia / Sound Engineering The Hypo Twins in Stone Mountain, Georgia / Text Suburban Legend

This next session is a pleasure for me to put up. The Hypo Twins formed in Phoenix, AZ from the ashes of several bands. The leader of this rock band is an old timey friend from the QC area, Mike Loy. He spent many years playing the QC music scene in several different bands. Looking for a bigger pond, he moved to Arizona where he found success with the band Chronic Future. He finally ended up in The Hypo Twins, and can be found tearing a path up to LA and back on a regular basis. While recording their new album with producer/singer/songwriter Rick Beato in Georgia, they made some time from their busy schedule to do a special acoustic track for us here at NITETROTTER. Thanks for listening & Good Nite!

Teenage Rage - NITETROTTER Session

Illustration  Jorge Tapia / Sound Engineering Nathan Gregory / Text Mr. Nitetrotter - June 1, 2010

A wise man once said "be careful what you pick up on craigslist" well this next session like all our diseases, we found on craigslist. When we put up an ad in Chicago to do free recording one of the responses was Teenage Rage. They didn't seem like they would rob or kill us(one of our comrades just found out he was working with a Chicago serial killer at a job he found on craigslist). So we told them to come over and they shared with us some of their magic.

Now its time to enjoy the latest tracks from our new friends Teenage Rage straight out of Chicago Illinois. Thank you and GOOD NITE!

Math The Band-NITETROTTER Interview

Inteview Merry C. / Text Suburban Legend

Our friends Math The Band our currently carving their way across the U.S. in support of MC Chris. Do yourself a favor and try to catch them live, it's definetly worth it.
You can check out the remainging dates of their tour HERE. Thanks for reading & Good Nite!

Math The Band Interview

What bands inspire your music?-Merry
We really like Andrew W.K., Devo, and atom and his package. They've all inspired us a lot.-Kevin MTB

How did you guys end up forming the band?
I started the band by myself when i was 13 or 14. It's gone through a lot of changes, and for the past 3 years my girlfriend justine has been playing too, along with an assortment of other friends from time to time.

We like the band name. How did you guys come up with it?
When I was trying to come up for a name for the band, I saw a pin on my backpack that just said "math", and had a bunch of numbers, addition, subtraction and multiplication signs on it. I named the band after the pin so that my band would have a pin.

If you could perform anywhere with any band, who would it be and where would you do it?
Andrew W.K. at Stonehenge.

What is your favorite song to perform?
We generally like playing whatever song is the newest at the time. whenever we go out on tour we add another 10 or 15 minutes of new material, and have a really good time with the excitement of new songs.

What songs would you recommend to people just starting to get into your music?
I'd recommend 'why didnt you get a haircut', off our last album 'dont worry' for the first song, but I'd recommend coming to a live show over listening to any mp3 any day. We have a hard time getting the full spectrum and attitude of the songs through on a cd. I feel we're really a live band more than a recorded one.

Any crazy tour stories to share?
Here are three:
I saw a motorcycle drive into a grocery store, right down the produce aisle in Oregon. Nobody believes me though.

What bands are people not listening to right now that they should be?
The lima research society, Iji, Streight Angular, Uncle Monsterface, Fishboy

What bands are people listening to right now that they shouldn't be? (Feel free to be mean.)
Crystal Castles.
