T'bone - NITETROTTER Session

Illustration Jorge Tapia / Sound Engineering Nathan Gregory / Text Mr. Nitetrotter - August 31, 2010

T'bone is one of those weird sensations that only happens once in a lifetime. They play serious riffage at high speeds and punk frequencies. We came accross this band through the drummer Ed Bornstein a total Iowan madman transplant. He is always having a good time and brings the heat on the kit. He even gave me a piece of Little Caesars pizza while we were both living it up in Wichita at ICT Fest.

We were bummed when they had to cancel NITETROTTER Fest but look forward to having them play in 2011! Catch these guys all around the city of Chicago. GOOD NITE

Dorian's Decay-NITETROTTER Session

Illustration Jorge Tapia / Sound Enginnering Ian Harris / Text Suburban Legend - August 30, 2010

Dorian's Decay is an unsigned Hardcore/Screamo band from the burbs of Chicago. They were among the first bands to be recommended to us by our fans for a Nitetrotter Presents: show. After catching their live performance, it was easy to see why. Their high energy stage presence quickly had the crowd drenched in sweat, and the kids wanting more. They are constantly touring through the Midwest with other up and coming bands, and our not only of my favorite bands to see live, but also a great group of guys to shoot the shit with. Here is Dorian's Decay, Good Nite!

We have been sitting on this session for quite too long now. We absolutely could not wait any longer to drop this one!

Dreamlogicc is a electronic solo act from Chicago. This session was a off the cuff pleasant surprise from a new friend. Hope you enjoy it as much as we do. GOOD NITE!

Driver Side Impact-NITETROTTER Session

Illustration Jorge Tapia / Sound Engineering Ian Harris / Text Suburban Legend - August 27, 2010

Driver Side Impact is a 5 piece rock band from Cleveland, Ohio. After forming six years ago, they quickly began making a name for themselves in the mid west with their self-released EP We Will Disappear. Since that time they have released two full length albums on Chicago label Victory Records. Their recordings really don't do justice to their high energy live shows. The dual vocals, and catchy choruses, drawing in the crowd to join them in the fun they are having on stage. Without further ado, here is a special acoustic version of their song
"Broadway". Thanks for listening, and Good Nite.

Crappy Dracula - NITETROTTER Session

Illustration Jorge Tapia / Sound Engineering Nathan Gregory / Text Mr. Nitetrotter - August 27, 2010

Live this band is half music and half stand up comedy. They blew through Schwag City and recorded this set of songs for us. This was right before a very hot show at the Attic in Little Village. We first found out about these guys from all the dirty emails that they kept sending us. These are some of the biggest freaks in the fucking midwest. Watch out!

We hope the awkward stage banter laced quirky punk of Crappy Dracula hits your spot as much as it did ours. GOOD NITE NITETROTTERS!

James Dunk - NITETROTTER Session

Illustration Jorge Tapia / Sound Engineering Nathan Gregory / Text Mr. Nitetrotter - August 26, 2010

James Dunk is like a jackrabbit's shadow, his genius is hard to capture on recording but we think we've gotten it. The first song is Dunk solo with the second being a pretty collaboration with Michael Parallex.

Thanks and GOOD NITE!

Michael Parallax - NITETROTTER Session

Illustration Jorge Tapia / Sound Engineering Nathan Gregory / Text Mr. Nitetrotter - August 26, 2010

Michael Parallax stopped in to Schwag City with his buddy James Dunk to record a session. This was following a very well received show at Mortville the night before. Both Michael and James sported church robes to help them get in the mood. Apparently that's how they do it down in Gainesville.

We love this weird psych pop rager of a session and love Michael Parallax, hope you enjoy it too! GOOD NITE!!!!!

Spreaders - NITETROTTER Session

Illustration Jorge Tapia / Sound Engineering Lawrence Romani / Text Lawrence Romani - August 26, 2010

The Spreaders are real smooth ! John Piergiorgi and Scott Owen are a two piece from Warwick NY and their vibe is super good sound food for heads looking to zone on drone. I was real happy to get them to come down to Apparition Sound to record their brand of intense head music. So after about an hour of throwing down brews and baking , I caught some incredibly sweet audio from these guys well worth a listen, especially if you are into getting lost in your own head as much as I do.

Enjoy peeps !

EYES - NITETROTTER Session

Illustration Rose Noble / Sound Engineering Ian Harris / Text Mr. Nitetrotter - August 23, 2010

This track is a regurgitated early EYES song as heard through the iiii's meat-grinder. The day after NITETROTTER Fest they took off to tour the west coast and back stopping at diy haunts like Rhinoceropolis, The Smell, Sean Carnage night at Pehrspace, and The Exchange.

They also surprised everyone by indefinitely ditching the backing track and adding Jorge's brother Thomas on drums. The new abrasive sound as captured on this track is a good idea of their current stripped down arrangement of raw power. ENJOY comrades and GOOD NITE!

Koji & Into it. Over it. - NITETROTTER Session

Illustration Jorge Tapia / Sound Engineering Ian Harris / Text Suburban Legend - August 17, 2010

Koji is a songwriter/activist who hails from Pennsylvania. Into it. Over it. (No Sleep Records) , or Evan Thomas Weiss as his friends like to call him, now resides in Chicago. Their songwriting and music styles may differ, but they have a lot in common. Mainly a steady diet of constant touring, and tons of limited edition material you can only get at their live shows. Big things seem to be brewing for these two dudes, Koji has recently signed to Run For Cover Records (Title Fight, Man Overboard, Transit). While Evan is currently set to release several different split albums, and is making new music with a Chicago movers and shakers super-group of sorts featuring members of Native and Castavet. Do yourself a favor and catch one of these guys in a city near you. They are two of the nicest, most genuine people you could meet, and after their sets, they would most definitely be willing to talk to you about some of your favorite little known hardcore bands.

An open letter from Mr. Nitetrotter

Dear Nitetrotters,

Nitetrotter.com has been on a brief summer hiatus. We are returning soon with a new website, and many new sessions.

There has been a lot of talk all of 2010 in the Quad City music community about Daytrotter and Nitetrotter. Lets take the time to clear some facts up.

Nitetrotter is not anti Daytrotter. We see ourselves as a more locally oriented free format diy reaction to Daytrotter. Our name is indeed a play on their name but Nitetrotter is not anti Daytrotter and does not wish any disrespect on their fans or employees. We just saw what we were doing as seizing the means of production and giving credit where credit was due.

Daytrotter has done nothing but try to blatantly blacklist those formally or non-formally associated with Nitetrotter. We find this to be wrong and counterproductive. Blacklist those individuals who may have said mean things about you but please not all our friends and family.

We will be involved with the opening of a venue with recording studio in East Moline again. It is called the Nite-Castle and is located in the building owned by the Human Aftertaste. The Lazer Warehouse will also be doing shows again, this time with a different name. So Weirdtown is not dead!

We plan on recording more bands in both East Moline and Chicago. We also are trying to figure out where we will host Nitetrotter Fest in 2011. It is going to be in Chicago but we plan on doing an East Moline version as well.

We look forward to posting a lot of new sessions for all our Nite-Heads!

Sincerly,

Mr Nitetrotter
