Nitetrotter Fest was the most pleasant disaster of 2010. One of the most aurally exciting parts was Wolf Eyes' set which was thankfully documented. We were really pumped when they confirmed to play and were even more surprised by how cool of guys these people were. Their set was dreadfully amazing and hit the audience like a puncture wound.
What I noticed that night was the conversations that the members of the band had after the show. While packing up they talked about the tapes they were listening to in the van. The list consisted of Kraftwerk's Autobahn and The Velvet Underground and Nico album as well as some other pop material. It was pretty fascinating to eavesdrop on their conversations about tonal rock albums. Now I have a totally new view on Wolf Eyes' music and hopefully you do to. They are definitely up there with the rest of the greats.
Well as always, we hope you enjoy this recording as much as we do! GOOD NITE!

This young man from Omaha was kind enough to stop by Schwag City one hot September afternoon to record this session. You may know him from his band Capgun Coup who are on Conor Oberst's label Team Love.
This music has an eerie quality that is total creep folk, definitely perking our ears. Really digging the lyric "just cause every boy wants you to incubate his baby". I really hope we hear more from Sam Martin soon.
Well comrades, you better enjoy this session as much as us. GOOD NITE!!!

Renae is a Post-punk band that resides in their touring van more than in their hometown of Hillsboro, Illinois. Heavily drawing inspiration from the ghosts of bands past like At The Drive-In, As Cities Burn, and Connecticut's First Aid Kit. The lost souls of these bands live on, and are carried through the dissonance and pain filled screams of this session. One of the Indie labels Hotfoot Records newest signings, Renae does the Post-punk genre proud with their latest release ... And Hell Follows, their powerful live shows are also definitely worth checking. I hope you enjoy this medley session as much as I do, thanks and Good Nite!

Driver Side Impact is a 5 piece rock band from Cleveland, Ohio. After forming six years ago, they quickly began making a name for themselves in the mid west with their self-released EP We Will Disappear. Since that time they have released two full length albums on Chicago label Victory Records. Their recordings really don't do justice to their high energy live shows. The dual vocals, and catchy choruses, drawing in the crowd to join them in the fun they are having on stage. Without further ado, here is a special acoustic version of their song "Broadway". Thanks for listening, and Good Nite.

Koji is a songwriter/activist who hails from Pennsylvania. Into it. Over it. (No Sleep Records) , or Evan Thomas Weiss as his friends like to call him, now resides in Chicago. Their songwriting and music styles may differ, but they have a lot in common. Mainly a steady diet of constant touring, and tons of limited edition material you can only get at their live shows. Big things seem to be brewing for these two dudes, Koji has recently signed to Run For Cover Records (Title Fight, Man Overboard, Transit). While Evan is currently set to release several different split albums, and is making new music with a Chicago movers and shakers super-group of sorts featuring members of Native and Castavet. Do yourself a favor and catch one of these guys in a city near you. They are two of the nicest, most genuine people you could meet, and after their sets, they would most definitely be willing to talk to you about some of your favorite little known hardcore bands.

This next session is a pleasure for me to put up. The Hypo Twins formed in Phoenix, AZ from the ashes of several bands. The leader of this rock band is an old timey friend from the QC area, Mike Loy. He spent many years playing the QC music scene in several different bands. Looking for a bigger pond, he moved to Arizona where he found success with the band Chronic Future. He finally ended up in The Hypo Twins, and can be found tearing a path up to LA and back on a regular basis. While recording their new album with producer/singer/songwriter Rick Beato in Georgia, they made some time from their busy schedule to do a special acoustic track for us here at NITETROTTER. CLAPS brought us their Synth laden jams on a rainy, and dreary night in early April. They are one of many cool acts coming from the Guilt Ridden Pop scene in Minneapolis. CLAPS were 3 nice people, who were genuinely bummed they couldn't make it to The Sexy Gay Contest in Weird Town. While listening to these tracks, you could probably draw a conclusion on how much Joy Division these guys listened to at a younger age. To steal a line from a friend, and easily sum up their tunes, " CLAPS IS HOPPIN'. DON'T MISS OUT. " Thanks for listening & Good Nite! Justin Vassallo and Colin Green sure know how to take advantage of a drum machine. Technoir MA's rad jams would not sound out of place in your favorite 80's movie. Their Alesis SR-16 driven sounds blew us away at a show in March, as their catchy style of noise-pop oozed influences of a who's who of early indie rock music. Thanks for listening, and Good Nite!

Lost Apparitions are some weird kids from somewhere in Iowa. There's a kick back, like a mule, kids freaking out that there's nothing they'll be able to do to not wind up like their old man or their mom. It's a wrestling match between old comforts and startlingly new revelations that creeps into their inquisitive head first and most often when such things happen. But this is the band's casa, a point of familiarity, where its sunny psychedelia comes home and usually stays in to roost. They refuse to find their little rabbit holes to duck into and just obsess and study and develop. They are the chronicles of whispers that flow from such deep recesses of a soul and a mind that just don't know what to do with them. It's as if we are witnessing the end of it all and the breathing is becoming thinner, we're not capable of cracking our eyes open much more and we're just seeing what's gonna happen next. Thanks for reading this asinine convoluted bullshit, & Good Nite. Hey Zeus-Lost Appartions NITETROTTER Session by NITETROTTERS

Christopher Bell came to East Moline,Il on a beautiful late winter day. He arrived from Jamestown, New York with the great songs of past relationships failed, made by looping his viola, banjo, and cello. Christopher is another example of a great guy making music with, and for great people. You can check out his music, and other artists off of his label at http://www.silenthomerecords.com . If you enjoyed these tunes, or enjoyed his show, you can catch him again live @ Mixtapes! on July the 3rd accompanied by a full band. Thanks for listening, and Good Nite!

Here is Eagle Scout's NITETROTTER Session and subsequent interview. Their catchy Post-Punk sound may or may not have arrived via a time machine from Kansas in the late 90's. They also are among the first wave of bands to tell the Trotter who shall remain nameless to suck one, after being blown off, only to have them come back and contact them later. Thanks for choosing to ride out with the devil duders! You can catch them Live touring the US this summer, and also at NITETROTTER Fest on July 10th, in East Moline,IL. You also should go buy their new Full Length Album "New Hands" Thanks for listening, and Good NITE.
Eagle Scout Interview! BRANDON - Vocals/Bass BEN - Guitar/Vocals KYLE - Drums/Shouts JEREMIAH - Synthesizer/Tambourine ROBERT "Voltron"- Guitar/Shouts
What kind of music did you guys listen to growing up? Robert: The first concert I ever went to was an O.C. Supertones concert. The first CD I ever bought was Thursday’s “Full Collapse.” Ben: I think my first concert was Journey. Kyle: The first CD I ever bought was the “D2: Mighty Ducks” soundtrack. Brandon : The first CD I ever bought was “At the Drive-In.” I was influenced a lot by punk rock and ‘80’s music when I was little. Jeremiah: I think the first CD I bought was Jock Jams. Be: I always listened to my brother’s MXPX and Relient K CDs. Then I liked Pedro the Lion. I think the first CD I bought was Limp Bizkit J: My musical taste was really influenced by Jock Jams.
How did you guys get together? K: We all go to the same college. This was before Robert was in the band. I was eating with our friends “the Chrises.” We went to get our food and when we went back, we noticed that somebody took our table. It was a bunch of jock dudes, jock jams. So, Kyle and Brandon were sitting near by and we started to sit with them. Br: So, it was outcasts getting together. We always saw Jeremiah around campus. Be: He asked us if he played an instrument, could be in the band. We agreed, and here we are.
How did you guys hook up with NITETROTTER? K: Well, pretty much when we routed the tour, we were looking for something in the QC. We actually played at Mixtapes! about two years ago, so we sent them a message. We got hooked up with Nitetrotter because they hooked up with us! Be: It’s like when you are with a girl in your group of friends and you just hook up with her because she’s around. Br: That never happens. Be: I saw it in a movie once.
What’s your favorite venue to play? All: The Loft in Macomb. K: There are two other ones. The Bean in East Peoria, and I love the warehouse in East Ridge, Tennessee. And that house in Champaign Br: Every place we play is like our favorite. K: Mixtapes! All: Yeah, Mixtapes!
When you guys aren’t touring, what do you do in your free time? Be: Robert likes to make fun games like, “Say what you don’t like about someone,” all at the same time. Brandon likes to play Pokemon. Br: We play Wiffleball J: I like to spend hours on Chatroulette. R: I like to read. Br: We’re all still in school, so that takes up a lot of our time. J: I like to play ultimate on the quad with the Kappa Delta boys.
What songs would you suggest to fans just starting to get into your music? Br: I like “Weaker Science.” That’s my favorite song off our new album.
Anything you want to share with the NITETROTTER public? K: Respect Iowa. Be: watch Zach Galifianakis. Br: I feel like we need to say something witty and profound. R: In memoriam of those pizza cats from this summer. Be: They were in a box when we were eating pizza… We could say, watch “Heavyweights.”

At first glance, if you ever have the pleasure of meeting the trio that comprises Cricoris , you would probably think they were in a Pink Floyd tribute band. However, this could not be further from the truth. Cricoris is the Quad Cities premier power violence band, and has been known to leave the crowds at their live shows covered in blood, spit, and sweat. After being neglected at other local venues, they found a home at Mixtapes! in East Moline,Il. We couldn't be any happier with the way the support THEIR scene. Without further ado, here is Cricoris. Good NITE.

While sitting in my office one awful winter evening, I received a phone call from a band who harbored the same feelings of ill will, against the same parties we at NITETROTTER rebel against. High on Monster Energy drinks, we let our feelings guide us into a budding friendship. The Blushing Gun are 4 guys lost in genre less jams, and a never ending journey to capture a unicorn to steal it's magical horn. You can catch them live in their new home base of The Quad-Cities frequently. Without further ado, here is The Blushing Gun's latest track "Slit Wrist" Good NITE.
