Sam Martin - NITETROTTER Session

This young man from Omaha was kind enough to stop by Schwag City one hot September afternoon to record this session. You may know him from his band Capgun Coup who are on Conor Oberst's label Team Love.

This music has an eerie quality that is total creep folk, definitely perking our ears. Really digging the lyric "just cause every boy wants you to incubate his baby". I really hope we hear more from Sam Martin soon.

I first met this guy like 3 years ago at some kind of Rainbow Family function which is always a psychic voyage into the world of noise. The second time I met him he was just coming out of an art gallery that was hosting a performance piece of some christ like character pissing in a gold chalice. One never forgets people that you meet under these circumstances.

The Wolfman took off a year or so ago for last I heard the woods in the pacific northwest. He came back with a mane and some new songs. Well we hope you enjoy our latest session from Wolfman America. GOOD NITE!

While on tour with Vacation Dad our new friend Birthdays stopped by for fun times at Schwag City. He really impressed us with these tracks. We are excited to hear the news that he will be going on his first European tour early next year. Have fun hopping the pond man!

Renae-NITETROTTER Session

Renae is a Post-punk band that resides in their touring van more than in their hometown of Hillsboro, Illinois. Heavily drawing inspiration from the ghosts of bands past like At The Drive-In, As Cities Burn, and Connecticut's First Aid Kit. The lost souls of these bands live on, and are carried through the dissonance and pain filled screams of this session. One of the Indie labels Hotfoot Records newest signings, Renae does the Post-punk genre proud with their latest release ... And Hell Follows, their powerful live shows are also definitely worth checking. I hope you enjoy this medley session as much as I do, thanks and Good Nite!

These guys were so fucking high when they recorded this song. What the fuck do you think this is? Well whatever, this session is awesome. Awesome space jam for those stoned out of their gord in a dmt induced alternate reality.

Mikey of Owl Pillage just joined Nude Sunrise and started doing shows in his warehouse. Very cool.

Vacation Dad - NITETROTTER Session

Our friend Vacation Dad came to Chicago to play the last show at The Attic in Little Village with Christmas, Nude Sunrise and Birthdays. It was a rager to the say the least. All three touring bands slept on the floors at Schwag City and recorded sessions the next day.

This guy was the most charismatic of the bunch and we had some fun conversations. He even left some sonic bacteria that he had been fermenting on a 2 month tour for us. We love this guy and hope he keeps catching a buzz around the US for his cool vibes.

Fork Knife Spoon - "Shooting Down The Christ Myth"

This was the second Fork Knife Spoon recording released. It was titled "Shooting Down The Christ Myth" and was released on Conquistador Records in 2001. Over one hundred of these were made, they were diy photo copy covers with hand spray painted and screen printed cdrs. These were what FKS sold at many of its shows with bands like the Locust or Wesley Willis. This was after the "Unabomber" demo and before the "Black Stork Attack" 7". This release was recorded over a few hot summer days at John Powells church in Watertown. The lineup was Nate Girard drums, Jake Sheley guitar, Brett Schneider bass, John Gamino guitar, Andy Weinert vocals and Billy Harris vocals. This was a sort of awkward phase of the band, but still interesting.

Hideous Men - NITETROTTER Session

This is dark. This band has some great death vibes and an electric personality. Its unsettling in the good way. Another great band from Denver. Is it just me or can you hear hints of early Madonna?
